When building the exhaust after the turbo, room to make the first bend is often limited. Even more so if you want step up to a 3.5” exhaust from a turbo flange made for 3” tube. For all the instances that don’t have space for a normal transition, we formed one that does both.

Description

-Initiates the bend off the turbo discharge with a quick, smooth expansion to 3.5”
-Allows a 3.5” elbow to be used with a 3” turbo outlet flange without adding the height of a standard transition.
-Especially useful when a 3.5” integrated transition flange isn’t available, while offering a gentler flow path.
-Curved to match the following bend, with a similar CLR to a 3.5” tight radius elbow
-Two piece allows a compound angle if needed, concentric interface/seam to match at any orientation
~20deg total angle with a light scribe on the short side for alignment reference
-3” side matched to seat into StainlessBros turbine discharge/outlet flanges

Made from 16GA SS304 StainlessBros tube.

Could be used for tube to tube transitions although not the intention. In that case we would want something that transitions over more of the bend and is sized more for 3” tube rather than seating into a 3” flange receiver groove. This is designed around an efficient but quick expansion at the turbine discharge where there is a lot of swirl in the exhaust flow.
A 3.5” to 4” curved transition is a future possibility, as well as some further ideas if these go into one piece production.
